Pico De Loro at Mt. Palay-Palay, Ternate Cavite

Pico De Loro in Mt. Palay Palay in Ternate Cavite is one of my favorite mountaineer.

May 2013,  I have been seeing this mountain on different blogs and heard a lot from the mountaineers that I had encountered through my mountaineering journey. This mountain really caught my interest because no one can deny that this is one of the most thrilling and one of the most fulfilling mountain to climb once you conquered the challenge that this mountain has for the mountaineering community.

 MT. PALAY PALAY JUMP OFF

The trail from Jump off to Alibangbang (middle part of the trail before the assault) is an even surface.

After the grassy segment  would be a descend trail. Then you will cross a big branch of tree, and in few minutes you will see the CAMP 1.

Thirty minutes from jump off is the Base Camp 1. Last registration fee for 20php again.

The BANNERS at DENR

10 minutes water break.

After registration at Base Camp 1 we resumed the trekking. It was almost dark and as expected since we started at 5:00pm we spent few hours  trekking in the forest.

There was a confusing sign that you will encounter when you reached the river crossing. A big tree that has an arrow sign directing left. Since it was a clear "arrow sign" our group took the way to the left but it was a "dead end". Boulders and fallen bamboos are things that you will encounter on that area. We heard monkeys at the end of that dried river. We tried to make a way through the bamboos which we believed that if we crosses the bamboos we would reach the small falls near by the "Alibangbang" , by that the group would be back to the trail. But the bamboos and trees were too congested and it was impossible to take without "itak" to cut the grasses and bamboos. I decided to go back to the arrow sign. I asked the boys to take different ways to check where is the trail. Before we took the left way one of my member "Toyet" checked the other side of the river crossing. There were fences and a small gate with a reminder of "No Trespassing"  Everyone thought that it was a private property but only to find out when I asked Toyet to check it again the gate was open and we knew that there was another group behind us but they never came after our group. And I asked all the boys to enter the gate and surprisingly in god grace that was the way to "Alibangbang" the middle part of the trail. We wasted 1 hour and 30 minutes for that but yet it was a great experience with the group. I have seen the group's teamwork and love and care to each other.

Kuwentuhan to forget the exhaustion and emptiness.
